We have been spending our volunteering hours at Kites Corner for the last 3 years. It’s very rewarding working in the sensory garden and clearing the memorial stream, knowing that our efforts will make the garden a more relaxing space for the children and their families. The jobs vary depending on the time of year; in the autumn we swept up the leaves, in the summer we cleared ivy from the fence and got on top of the weeding and on one occasion we put together some flat pack furniture that the regular staff just hadn’t had time to do.
Everyone at James Hopkins Trust is so friendly and welcoming and they provide all volunteering groups with a large room where they can eat lunch and help themselves to tea and coffee.
We are looking forward to booking volunteering days with them for next year and beyond.
