Charity Football Match

Tuffley Rovers football club takes on Aston Villa Old Stars in a charity match to raise money for us!
Tuffley Rovers have been loyal supporters of James Hopkins Trust for a while now. Last year Neil Spiller, club secretary approached James Hopkins Trust and said he had made some enquiries about organising a charity football match to raise money for us. We were delighted and very grateful – however, that delight and gratitude quickly turned into stunned excitement when Neil dropped into the conversation that Tuffley Rovers had managed to secure Aston Villa Old Stars as their opponents! This was shaping up to be a very special charity football match and the date was set for 29 May 2016.
Match day was a gorgeous day which helped swell the crowds who were excited to see former England under 21 star Julian Joachim play. We know we are biased, but the stars of the match were most definitely Evan and Charlotte (who use James Hopkins Trust) who along with their siblings were club mascots and escorted the teams onto the pitch at the start of the game.
After 90 minutes of excellent football and some nail biting saves and goals it was a respectable 5-5 draw plus a stunning £3,010.70 was raised for James Hopkins Trust!
Thank you Tuffley Rovers for being such brilliant friends of James Hopkins Trust, you helped make some magic memories for our families whilst raising enough money to ensure one of our children will be supported and receive free nursing respite for twelve months.
