Adam’s story written by his Mummy  IMG_0496

Why is JHT so important to us? It is the place where we believe Adam gets the best care we could ever dream of.

Until someone has a child who needs 24/7 nursing care and has many health issues it is easy to take for granted your child being happy. When your child has many issues, it is so very important to us parents for your child to be happy and JHT helps this happen.

When Adam was born life turned upside down. For the next 9 months I lived with Adam in the hospital and, as a mother I knew that was where we needed to be. The biggest fear was coming home. Would we be able to manage without all the specialist equipment and without the help of nurses?

Then I heard about James Hopkins Trust! At first I was very unsure about contacting them, just thinking about leaving Adam alone with someone was absolutely terrifying to me and I was very afraid that this would not be a good idea. When I first walked through the doors I was met by an extremely friendly team, for the first time I felt that there was hope that someone would be able to help us.

A year has passed since that first visit. Being a parent is a 24 hour job seven days a week for any parent, but as a parent of a child with a disability there is never a chance to rest or relax. I am so grateful for the opportunity James Hopkins Trust gave me to have some time to myself, some space to think which is so important. I know that Adam is in good hands when he has a sleepover at Kites Corner, it is one of the few places where I know that Adam gets the care he needs. This is particularly important for our family because we come from Poland and we don’t have any family here so it is only when Adam has respite that we are able to have a few moments for ourselves.
Kites Corner is beautiful, and all activities are adapted in such a brilliant way that every child’s needs are met.

The team is extremely kind and friendly and they truly make you feel at home. Adam loves staying at Kites Corner and he is always so happy.

James Hopkins Trust has a special place in our heart and there will never be the correct words to describe how James Hopkins Trust has changed our lives.

Thank You for everything.
