We’re Taking Part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge 2025!
This December, James Hopkins Trust will take part in our very first Big Give Christmas Challenge and we need your help to make it a success.
Our goal is to raise £15,000 online between 2nd and 9th December. If we achieve this, it will be doubled thanks to match funding, giving us a total of £30,000 to build Kites Cabin– a much-needed Family Liaison & Wellbeing Hub in the heart of our garden at Kites Corner. We have been lucky enough to secure £7,500 in pledges from loyal local businesses and an additional £7,500 from one of Big Give’s champion funders, The Julia Rausing Trust.
Why We Need Kites Cabin
At Kites Corner, we provide vital respite care to families with severely disabled, life-threatened and life-limited young children. While our purpose-built respite centre, Kites Corner, is full of warmth and care, we face a very real challenge: we don’t have enough private spaces for sensitive conversations. Kites Cabin will be a therapeutic space which will be used with families, professionals, and staff when privacy, calm, and emotional support are essential.
Too often, families and staff have to use rooms that are busy, noisy, or not truly private when discussing deeply personal matters. Whether it’s a parent receiving emotional support, professionals holding important meetings, or staff needing confidential space- the lack of a dedicated, calm environment is a real barrier.
Kites Cabin will change this.
This purpose-built, peaceful garden cabin will provide:
- A safe space for families to talk openly and confidentially.
- A calm setting for emotional support during difficult times.
- A private area for staff and professionals to work without distraction.
- A dedicated hub that strengthens trust, relationships, and wellbeing.
How the Big Give Christmas Challenge Works
- To unlock the £15,000 match funding, we need to raise £15,000 in online donations during campaign week.
- Every pound you give will be doubled, meaning your generosity goes twice as far.
- Together, we can reach our £30,000 target and bring Kites Cabin to life.
The Impact of Your Support
By helping us build Kites Cabin, you’ll be giving families a safe, supportive space when they need it most. The cabin will reduce stress, improve communication, and ensure every family feels heard and cared for.
This is not just a building but an investment in wellbeing, dignity, and emotional support for Gloucestershire’s most vulnerable children and their families.
