One of the most exciting developments was in 1998 when we set up our first group of Trust Ambassadors. These have been drawn from people who have been loyal supporters of our Charity over a period of years and who have accepted our invitation to become Ambassadors for their area.

Their role is to be a local point of contact so that all aspects of JHT's calendar of events can be readily accessed in all parts of the county. Our network is already extensive with Cheltenham and Gloucester being well represented, but we also have "our man" (or woman) in Tewkesbury, Winchcombe, Maisemore, Lydney, Tetbury, Frampton, Stroud and points west, including Ross-on-Wye.

In addition to local awareness of our Trust by publicising details of what is happening thoughout the year, one of their more rewarding duties is to collect cheques from organisations in their area who have raised money on our behalf. Thankfully there is an ever increasing number of those occasions and it is good to know that we can rely on our Ambassadors to represent the Trust in upmost confidence, having been suitably briefed on all aspects of our work at induction courses. It really is heart warming to see them turn up at all sorts of events, JHT sweatshirts and ID cards to the fore, raising our profile and presenting a friendly welcome to everyone in the process.

We have already held our first supper evening at the Castle Restaurant at Moreton Valence, by kind permission of Mr & Mrs King, where our Ambassadors met and mingled with Trustees, Committee members, nurses and Staff and a great time was had by all. It provided abundant proof, if it were needed, that out Trust is about people with a passionate interest in what we do for others and without whom we would be much the poorer.
As a postscript, Ambassadors are so keen that our kite-logo sweatshirts should reach all parts that they turn up in all sorts of places unconnected with our events. They have been spotted at the Three Counties show, local fetes, on holiday beaches, at rugby and cricket matches, as well as the more humble surroundings of many supermarkets. The farthest flung sitting was on a mountain in New Zealand! That's what we call real Ambassadorship!
